How to Lock Individual Chats on WhatsApp

This feature to lock chats is currently limited to Android users only, IOS users will also get this feature soon. If you are an Android user follow the below steps to lock specific chats. Before following these steps make sure you have updated the app from Play Store.
1. Open  WhatsApp on your Android phone and find the chat you want to lock.
2. Click on the chat you want to lock and the chat box will open.

3. Now click on the name of the contact at the top of the screen.

4. Scroll down to the bottom and you will find the "Chat Lock" option below the disappearing messages feature. Select the Chat Lock.

5. Enable the toggle along the "Lock This Chat With Finger Print" to secure it.

6. You will see a pop-up window that says the chat is now locked.

In this way, you can lock individual chats with Fingerprint or Face Id.


How to Access Locked Chats on WhatsApp

You have locked important chats on WhatsApp now it is time to learn how to access them.
1. Open WhatsApp on your Android phone and slightly scroll down in the conversation list.
2. Now you will find a new tab at the top of the conversation list called "Locked Chat". Tap on it.

3. Once you click on it you will need to unlock it and then you will find all the locked conversations here.



How to Unlock Individual Chat on WhatsApp

1. Open WhatsApp on your Android device and navigate to the chat you want to unlock.

2. Tap on the name of the contact at the top of the screen.

3. Scroll down to the bottom and Tap on the "Chat lock" option.

4. Now disable the toggle along the " Lock this chat with fingerprint".

You have removed the chat from locked chats successfully and your conversation will be back on the list.
Note that the feature is being rolled out gradually to all WhatsApp users. Hence you may not have this feature right now. Update your WhatsApp frequently from the Play Store and App Store and check for the feature.
