Thankfully Gmail has recently introduced a new feature to allow users to send password-protected emails that adds an extra layer of security to our shared data through Gmail.

With the help of this feature, Gmail users can now send confidential messages encrypted with a password or SMS passcode, ensuring that the message will be read by the intended recipient only. In this article, we will tell you how to send password-protected emails in Gmail with the help of a few simple steps.

How to Send Password-Protected Emails in Gmail

1. Open your Computer and get a login to your Gmail account.
2. Click on the Compose Button to start a new email.

3. In the Compose Window click on the Confidential Mode (lock icon) at the right bottom of the screen.

4. In the Confidential Window set the expiration date, you can set the expiration date for up to 5 years. This is the date after which the emails will not be accessible to the recipient.

5. As for the passcode you have two options to choose from, If you choose the "No SMS Passcode" option and the receiver of the emails is using Gmail service, he will be able to open it directly. If he is using another email service he will receive Google-generated passcode over the email.

6. If you choose the "SMS Passcode" option, the passcode will be sent to the recipient's mobile number via SMS. Make sure you type their mobile number, not yours.

7. Click on the Save Button to save confidential mode settings.

7. Finally compose the email as usual and tap on send button. However, remember that you have turned on the confidential mode, and the attachments you send will also be protected.
